What are the advantages of globalization?

Globalization has very important advantages--such as increased world trade and more efficient use of resources in production--and has generally helped millions of people in at least some poor countries escape poverty. However, globalization also carries significant downsides for many workers in developed nations who are vulnerable to service outsourcing and to the continuing migration of manufacturing to low wage countries.
